Willard Bay State Park, Utah
A dike separates this freshwater reservoir from the briny Great Salt Lake right next door, giving boaters, water-skiers, and swimmers 9,900 acres of warm, fresh water that's rare for northern Utah. Built in 1964 as part of the Weber Basin Project, the bay supports walleye, smallmouth bass, and catfish fisheries, plus two marinas with campsites shaded by cottonwoods. In winter, bald eagles gather along the shoreline to fish the open water.
