Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum, Utah
Dig into hundreds of millions of years of the Uinta Basin's past at this Vernal museum, opened in 1948 to showcase fossils unearthed within about 80 miles of town. Inside, three galleries cover geology, ancient life, and Fremont and Ute culture; outside, wander the Dinosaur Garden among 17 life-sized sculptures, including a 20-foot Tyrannosaurus and a Stegosaurus. It's an easy first stop before heading into Dinosaur National Monument's real bone beds.
