Fred Hayes State Park at Starvation, Utah
Cast a line for trophy walleye on the 3,495-acre Starvation Reservoir, a fishing and boating hub tucked into the high desert northwest of Duchesne. Built by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1970, the reservoir anchors a park renamed in 2019 to honor longtime Utah State Parks director Fred Hayes. Anglers, boaters, and off-highway riders use the shoreline campgrounds as a base for exploring the surrounding Uinta Basin.
