Antelope Island State Park, Utah
Utah's largest island rises from the Great Salt Lake as open grassland and sage flats, roamed by one of the nation's oldest and largest publicly managed bison herds — descended from a dozen animals released here in 1893. A causeway connects the island to Syracuse, leading to hiking and biking trails, beaches for swimming in the lake's buoyant, briny water, and sweeping views back toward the Wasatch Front.
