Bears Ears National Monument, Utah
Twin buttes rising from the high desert give this monument its name, and shelter one of the densest concentrations of ancestral Puebloan sites in the country — cliff dwellings, kivas and rock art scattered across canyon country jointly stewarded by five tribal nations. Beyond the archaeology, Bears Ears offers slot canyons, the free-flowing San Juan River and some of Utah's darkest night skies for backcountry exploration.
